Our experience with
promoting educational trajectories
DFM arises as a response to the increase in school dropouts due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the high costs of in-person vocational counseling interventions.
Decidiendo Para un Futuro Mejor is an educational program and a digital vocational counselor for 6 to 12 grade students that promotes educational trajectories and access to higher education.
DFM has been highlighted by the World Bank as a Great Buy to reduce school dropouts in 2020 and 2023.
DFM assists students in understanding the importance of education by delivering valuable information about its benefits. Students can easily explore different higher education programs and institutions, as well as their financing options.
We guide students in preparing a study plan for their transition to higher education. Additionally, we help educators provide guidance to students so they can make the most out of the tool. The program is digital, flexible, and personalized, adapting to each student's particular needs and the national curriculum of the guidance subject.
DFM has been implemented in 4 countries. Its recent digital version has been piloted (RCT) in more than a thousand educational establishments with preliminary results indicating a reduction in school dropout rates in those institutions that received the program.
Implemented in Chile and Colombia, the DFM web platform tracks students' academic trajectories through agreements with both governments.
Throughout our different and dynamic activities, personalized tools and content.
70% of students rated the program content as "good" or "very good".
More than half of students who started the program completed it, compared to the average completion rates of 6,5% found on Open Online Courses.
After the program, students' salary perceptions improve, and biases in accessing goods by education level decrease.
After the program, students' awareness of financial aid options increases fivefold, shifting their perception of financial barriers to higher education.
